Oklahoma Attorney General Warns About Scams Following Disaster

TULSA, Oklahoma -

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt issued an “Oklahoma Disaster Scam Prevention Packet” and a second warning Sunday to beware of the home repair schemes and charity fraud that typically follow weather damage.

“We know from past experience that this type of damage attracts criminals looking for ways to take advantage of Oklahomans,” Pruitt said. “We’re getting the message out now so people can be aware of such quick-fix schemes and spread the word to neighbors and family members before they become victims.”

Untold Benefits of DIY Home Improvement Projects

Do It Yourself (DIY) Home Repair is a time-honored tradition among the men in my family for years, and I have put forth my finest effort to keep the tradition alive today. The various projects that I have attempted have produced mixed results, with some of my past projects barely qualifying as successful. Nevertheless, each project has contributed to my overall knowledge of home repair through the addition of either practical skills or general lessons learned.

In terms of practical skills, I have learned to use more tools through DIY trial and error then I ever actually learned from watching my father. The trial and error approach is not necessarily advisable, however, because I must concede that it provided me with my fair share of cuts and bruises along the way. Alright, to be honest…I would be lying to say that I have not shocked myself a few times along the way as well. Heck, I should probably consider myself lucky that I have not lost any appendages from my power tool self-orientations. In the end, though, the ends did somewhat justify the means because I now posses a level of tool proficiency that is respectable amongst my male peers. Just don’t expect me to be the first volunteer to fire up a welding torch anytime soon!
