HOPKINS, SC (WIS) – Veterans Day is a chance to say thanks to those who served our country, and one vet received the thank you of a lifetime with the help of a story we shared last week.
“When I went out that front door I couldn’t believe it,” said Bob Fogle. “I had no idea that it would be like this. We got people inside, on top of the house, under the house, in the backyard.”
A special veterans day gift for a World War II veteran who gave so much. “It’s almost unbelievable,” said Fogle. “I feel so good, thankful.”
Fogle, 91, has spent half his life in his Hopkins home. He and his wife Ann didn’t know how they’d manage all the repairs on the aging property, but now they don’t have to worry.
“All these people are willing to do all these things for me and my husband, people they don’t know,” said Ann. “It’s just a blessing God has given us, answered our prayers.”
Dozens of volunteers organized by HomeWorks sawed, hammered and ripped out the rotten wood, a blessing to the Fogles which otherwise may not have happened. “Some of the best things in life are so simple,” said Fogle.
