Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) – Police are searching for a man who stole a car and crashed it into two parked cars and a house. Now the owner’s of the vehicles are stuck with the repair bill.
“It looks like it picked it up in the air and it flew over there,” Marco Cardone says while surveying the damage.
Marco Cardone is a contractor out to look at the damaged house. The homeowner was having a tough time. The driver of the stolen car, not only plowed through his property, but his neighbor’s SUV as well.
“Very scary, as soon as I heard the sound I thought the worst of course, we were all dead asleep,” the neighbor, Elizabeth Henderson says.
When Elizabeth Henderson came running out of her home to check on the driver, she says he was running in the other direction. Leaving them with the damage.
As the day went on and the fear of someone being hurt went away, the reality of what to do now started to set in. The owners of both vehicles only have liability insurance.
“I don’t know, its just so frustrating, nobody can get any help even these people can’t get any help,” Elizabeth says.
Elizabeth says living paycheck to paycheck she doesn’t even have the money to get a tow truck to unwedge her vehicle from the house and the palm tree.
“Its hard, a bad situation, guess it could’ve been worse,” she says.
Knowing this wasn’t a true accident, but a way to flee police, makes it worse. Two people, are now with cars totaled and no way to replace them.
Metro says this was not a high speed chase. They say their officer first noticed the driver of the stolen Ford Mustang when he ran a red light. They tried to pull him over and he took off. With the high rate of speeds they say they didn’t follow closely and the thief was able to get away.
