Siliguri, Sept. 26: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation has served notices on 20 house owners asking them to repair immediately the structures damaged in the earthquake.

While owners of 19 buildings have been asked to carry out the repairs immediately, the residents of an apartment at Ashrampara have been requested to vacate the flat and return only after the work was complete.

“On the basis of an initial assessment, we have served notices on 20 owners with a request to take up necessary measures. The survey is in progress and gradually all damaged buildings would be identified and notices served,” said Chittaranjan Burman, the executive engineer of the SMC. He added that the pillars of the flat at Ashrampara have developed cracks and it was not safe to stay in the building.
