HAMILTON – Chris Gibbs, 24, of Springfield, Ohio, has been sentenced to three years in prison for his role in defrauding elderly residents in Butler County.

Butler County Prosecutor Michael Gmoser said Gibbs was one of a group of people who knocked on doors of elderly residents in Ohio and Kentucky, convincing them their home and/or yards were in need of repairs or improvements, and collecting payment in advance for work that was unnecessary and never completed.

Gibbs deceived an elderly Butler County man of more than $18,000 by misrepresenting the need for residential tree repairs and landscaping work.

Last month, the Greene County Grand Jury indicted Gibbs on seven similar counts.
