“Tring, Tring” went the alarm. It was a deafening sound. I groaned as I tried to stop the insupportable noise but in doing so I pushed it onto the floor but the sound came back as piercingly as ever. My Mum opened the curtains and the sunlight poured in. I pulled my blanket over my head but the sunlight fought its way into my eyes. “Come on Jack, You don’t want to be late to school on your first day do you” Yes It was my First day at St. Albans and I was not looking forward to it. I didn’t want to make any friends. My Mum wanted me to interact more with new people but I was happy with all the friends in my old school thanks. I had to move school because we had moved houses when my Mum got a new job
“5 more minutes Mum”, I exclaimed imperceptibly. “No Jack you have to wake up now or you might be late for school”. You see, I didn’t have a Dad, well I had one until he disappeared overnight. He left me and my Mum when I was just .I did what she had told me tamely and made my bed. Then I brushed my teeth hurriedly conscious of the time. Then I hurried downstairs to eat my breakfast of beans on toast, omelette and bacon. I just half smiled as I knew if I was going to eat that then there was one chance in a million in me getting to school on time.
I ate the food ravenously. Then I ran up the stairs to put my uniform on, I put my uniform on very hastily. Then I ran downstairs like the wind. I put my bag on said bye to my mum and left. As I was unlocking my bike I had a glimpse of the time, I had just 7 more minutes to get to school. I got on and after a few hundred metres I remembered I hadn’t taken my pencil case. I then pedalled all the way back to my house had to get it and then I started my journey again. When the school was about 300 metres away and visible the bike started to slow down. I looked at the problem, the tyre had gone flat and I was really angry and I kicked the tyre in repulsion.
I didn’t know what to do because I still had more than 200 metres to go and the tyre was flat. So I took the bike on my shoulders and ran at full speed. When I got there a minute later, I was exhausted; I got to school a good ten minutes after the bell. I just wished I wasn’t going to be in any trouble. ‘What a great start Jack, Late for school on your first day, good going’, I thought to myself. I put my bike with all the other bikes and locked it. Then I went through to the office.
There was a lady there, she asked me “Hello are you lost and do you need any help”. I replied “Yes please, I’m the new boy in year eight. “Oh yes, Jack Johnson right”. “Yeah I am where should I got to?
She told me to go straight down the corridor and then turn left, take the staircase and go to room 10 B. I then went the route she told me to then I just got lost. I panicked, I didn’t know where to go then like a guardian angel a boy came along towards me. He had light brown hair which was combed backwards and was chewing some gum. Just as he passed me I asked him
