A GREENOCK mum claims she has had to throw out bags of bedding, clothes and toys because her home is ‘riddled with damp’.

Claire Olasunkanmi, who lives in a flat in Maple Road, says her two bedrooms, bathroom and hall are covered in black wet patches.

The 30-year-old, who has a four-year-old daughter Danielle O’Neill, says she has experienced problems since 2006 and has been told by landlords Oak Tree Housing not to dry clothes in the property.

She claims the living conditions in the flat are affecting her health.

Claire said: “I’ve had a cold since before Christmas and Danielle is always congested.

“She sleeps in a travel cot in the living room because of the dampness in her bedroom.

“I woke up one morning and the pillows were wet because of the dampness in my room.

“I want it fixed or to be moved to another house.”

Director of Oak Tree Housing Association Nick Jardine said: “We have had some difficulty in gaining access to the property.

“Our property inspector has examined the problem and he is continuing to investigate.

“We believe that it is a condensation issue and we will be undertaking an investigation over the next few days to ascertain the source of the problem.

“We will carry out any remedial works required and give the tenant advice.”
