The Binghamton Police Department warns of home repair scams in the area.

The Binghamton Police say they’ve seen a rise in these scams and are asking residents to call police if someone approaches you regarding home repairs or attempts to go inside your home by asking to use the telephone or bathroom.

Police say they are looking in particular for a white male in his 50′s with dark short hair and a goatee and white female in her 40′s.

One or both of the suspects may speak with a foreign accent.

They were last seen in a white SUV on Binghamton’s east side.

Police say the two are doing unsolicited roof or driveway repair estimates claiming their work is under warranty at no cost to the homeowner.

But while the estimate is being done, another member of their supposed staff burglarizes the home.

Again, if they approach you or your neighbors, you are asked to call the police.
