KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The non-profit, home repair organization ‘Rebuilding Together’ is launching a Knoxville affiliate.
It brings volunteers and communities together to improve homes and lives of low-income homeowners enabling them to live safely and independently.
With approximately 60,000 people living below the poverty line in Knox County – 24 percent of Knoxville residents compared to 17 percent for the state of Tennessee, more than 3,000 elderly low-income households, and more than 4,000 categorized as frail elderly – RTK is dedicated to providing free rehabilitation and critical repairs, including disability accommodations, to the homes of low-income Knoxville residents.
The new affiliate will hold its first community rehabilitation project for three homes on Saturday, Oct. 22. Interested volunteers are asked to sign-up.
