How many times have you looked around your home and seen visions of how you wanted it to look? Making that happen may seem like an impossible task especially when your life is filled with family obligations. Don’t fret; there is a solution.

Simply get your family involved in the redecorating process. Easier said than done? Actually, not really.

Redecorating your home can be a very rewarding personal experience. Nothing can really compare to the feeling of sitting back to relax in a room that expresses your personal style. Perhaps the only way to enhance this feeling is to turn the entire redecorating experience into a family bonding experience.

All parents know how difficult it can be to find ways to spend quality time with their children especially as they get older. Redecorating as a family will not only give you a common goal to work on together but can also be a great deal of fun. Now call the family together and get started.

You will probably want to start the process with a family meeting. Make sure that the gathering is fun and you put the project in the light of a goal that all of you can accomplish together. If your family looks on redecorating as a chore then the fun will go right out of it for all of you.

Start the meeting with the basic concepts you would like to begin with and then let your family be involved with deciding on the details. Not only will they feel more invested in the project if you listen to their opinions but you may find that they have some really great ideas. So, set the parameters such as the budget, color schemes etc. and let them run with it.

If you have family members who are still not fired up about the idea of working on the house, there are some ways to encourage them. Tell them to invite friends over and have a redecorating party. Having people over will not only increase the fun but also get the work done more quickly.

Another idea is to give them free reign to do any destruction that might need to be done. We spend our whole lives being told not to destroy things. Most people, especially kids, really enjoy the opportunity to tear down wallpaper or rip up rugs.

One down side to family projects such as this is that it can be difficult to maintain a single vision. With so many ideas being put into action you may end up with a home that does not seem to have a single style. Try not to let this deter; you can always make small changes later to bring all the themes together.

Getting everyone in your family to work on a single project can be a very challenging prospect. Not everyone will find the endeavor fun and so many opinions can muddle anyone’s vision. Stick with it though and you may find that you have created an experience that you and your children will cherish for a lifetime.
