WATERLOO — A home repair program in Northeast Iowa recently
received $150,900 from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des
Moines.
The affordable housing program grant went to the Iowa Northland
Regional Council of Governments and will help renovate up to 12
homes for qualified low-income owners.
Applicants must be in INRCOG’s region — Black Hawk, Bremer,
Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw and Grundy counties — but cannot be
in Waterloo or Cedar Falls, where other programs are available.
The money is one of seven grants totaling $2 million awarded by
the bank statewide. The funds come from the bank’s earnings and are
not taxpayer dollars.
