A 74-year-old Oak Forest woman was the victim of a home repair scam on Nov. 2, police said.
The woman told police a man walked into her home in the 16000 block of Forest Avenue at about 3 p.m. The man told the victim he had done work on her house in the past, and she believed he might have been a man she hired about a decade ago, police said.
The man walked into the kitchen and made a phone call. Shortly after the call ended, a second man entered the woman’s house, according to reports.
The first man talked with the woman for several minutes before leaving. He said he had work to do at a neighboring house, police said.
The woman told police she found a flashlight on her dresser and a closest drawer ajar. Two suitcases and a safe box were open. She later realized $198 was missing from her bedroom, police said.
The woman told police the men drove away in a tan van.
