Applications Now Being Accepted For Home Repair Program

The Department of Neighborhood Services and Community Development is now accepting applications for the upcoming 2012 Home Repair Program through Monday, March 5, at 4 p.m. All repairs will take place July 9- 21.

World Changers, a ministry of LifeWay and the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, continues its partnership with the City of Chattanooga Department of Neighborhood Services and Community Development for the tenth year to provide free labor to qualified senior and disabled citizens residing within the Chattanooga City limits.

In recent years, funding for the project has provided through Community Development Block Grant funds administered by the department.


In order to meet eligibility requirements, homeowners must be a Chattanooga resident, at least 62 years of age, or be a disabled homeowner of any age. Social Security documentation of disabled status must be provided. Applicants must be low income based on Housing and Urban Development guidelines and own and reside in the home that is to be repaired. In addition, all city and county property taxes must be paid through December 2011.

Homeowners who received service from World Changers or Weatherization assistance from the City of Chattanooga or Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise within the last three years (2009, 2010 or 2011) or who received assistance from the 2010 or 2011 Roofing Repair Program are not eligible for this years program. Applicants must provide verification of household income and assets to be eligible for assistance.

Application Assistance Workshops will be held throughout the city to prepare applicants for this years process.

Feb. 1 – Eastgate Seniors Center Eastgate Mall, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Feb. 7 – Avondale Recreation Center 1305 Dodson Ave., 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Feb. 13 – East Lake Recreation Center 3701 Dodds Ave., 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Feb. 17 – Alexian Senior Ministries 250 E. 10th Street, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Feb. 20 – City Hall, Third Floor 101 East 11th Street, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Feb. 22 – John A. Patten Rec. Center 3202 Kellys Ferry Road, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
