WOBURN – With minimal discussion, the City Council at its recent
meeting voted to grant a special permit for an auto and truck
repair garage at 7 Harrison Ave., next to Woburn Police
Headquarters.

The council added three new conditions to a series of
suggestions from the Planning Board. Hours of operation for
Accurate Auto Services will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays,
and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, with no Sunday hours.

The petitioner must designate a location for a screened Dumpster
on the site, and submit a snow plowing plan to the Dept. of Public
Works.

Ward 2 Alderman Richard Gately said he wanted to ensure that car
parts would be screened from view and “not left on the side of the
building.”

The Planning Board and DPW Supt. Jay Duran had previously
requested the addition of a series of conditions that mostly have
to do with the drainage system and stormwater management.

Attorney Joseph Tarby told the council his client, Anthony
Paone, has no issues with any of the conditions. Paone intends to
build and lease the 1-story building with two bays to Accurate Auto
Services.

Ward 3 Alderman Mark Gaffney, whose district includes Harrison
Avenue, said he had “spoken to the immediate abutters who think
this is a good addition to the neighborhood.”

“It will clean up an unsightly area,” added Gaffney.

Paone received a special permit in 2009 to pave the parcel and
lease up to 28 parking spaces. A previous petition for the auto and
truck repair garage was withdrawn earlier this year, then
re-submitted.

No one from the audience spoke during the public hearing.
