Indiana is my state. Central Indiana is my locale. Thanks. I have meagerly purchased a home of my own that needs a lot of improvements, mostly repair.

I would say it depends on the conditions of the items. Try Craigslist for free or cheap household items. I’ve given away all kinds of stuff on there and I bought paint for my house really cheap. Good luck with your home improvements.

I am confused about your question. Are you asking what remodelers might DO with a home that needs improvements? Or are you looking for a cheap way to improve on your home?
If you want to fix it up at low cost, check out Habitat for Humanity’s Re-store. They have these stores every where, but check their website too. What a Re-store is, is a place where General Contractors can donate leftover materials from jobs such as flooring, tile, etc. Re-Store then sells it at a low cost, and the $$ you pay goes to Habitat for Humanity. Also check out your local Builders Warehouse, there are lots of places you can get cheap stuff for your home.
I know for me personally, we need to re-do our bathroom but can’t afford to do it all at once. So what we are doing is buying things we need a little at a time, when they are on sale & storing it. Like I am replacing the crappy window in my bathroom with those thick glass blocks. My local Menards (kinda like lowe’s) has then on sale this week buy 1 get 1 free. Since its such a good deal I am getting all the ones I need now! Also, I found a vanity I liked that was on clearance a few months ago. They were selling it at clearance because another customer bought it & installed it but then changed their mind. So basically its just out of the box & has no problems.
I hope my ideas helped you!

I feel your pain. I too have been spending a lot of time and money fixing up my older home. It was a wreck when I bought it, but now, 15 years later, it’s pretty nice. Craigs list is a good idea, you could place an ad under ‘wanted’ in your local area. Talk to some of your local workmen (carpenters, electricians and such) a lot of them know where the bargains are and would be willing to help out, especially if it would lead to more work for them. Just recently my electrician/general contractor offered me high quality doors for about half price. A friend of his had bought a lot of them from a storage facility to make a little extra money and wanted to sell them fast. Keep looking- there are a lot of bargains to be had. Best of luck!

If your looking to get rid of your old (too beat up to sell as used) items go to your local scrap iron dealer and they will give you money for the weight of what ever type of metal you have. copper is more valuable than aluminum but it worth it to take in any of those items, for cash

go to craigslist and look under “free” and “house hold” and “materials” you can also post a “wanted” ad for what ever you want. tons of good deals. it localized to your area. Also, google ” freecycle” where people offer things they dont want for free. I picked up a free stove the other day. someone was remodeling their kitchen and just didnt want this one.
