Program Helps East Atlanta Residents in Need of Emergency Home Repair

For the past two years the East Atlanta Village Community Association’s Neighbor in Need program has been helping elderly or low-income residents with emergency home repairs at no cost to them. Jeff Whitehouse, chairman of the Neighbor in Need Committee, said the repairs include fixing holes in a neighbor’s roof, replacing old pipes and water heaters and rewiring old electrical systems. “A lot of the people we’ve helped, I’d say the majority of them, have lived in the community for over 30 years,” Whitehouse said

FED GOVT ALLOCATES RM1 MLN for REPAIR of FISHERMEN'S HOUSES

BACHOK, May 13 ( Bernama ) – The federal government has allocated RM1 million for repair of fishermens” houses in Bachok and Pasir Puteh districts under the first phase. Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin said of the amount, some RM459,000 is meant for repair works on 53 fishermen”s houses in Bachok. “Most will be for used for Perupuk state constituency,” said when launching repair work on the house of fishermen Amran Ramli , 42, in Perupuk here today.
